Co-producing for change

We specialise in working with people with learning disabilities and their families, understanding the unique challenges they face. By listening to every perspective, we help bridge understanding and create pathways forward.

Our approach is rooted in honest, authentic communication, and we are committed to uncovering and inspiring practical solutions.

Whether supporting a person in unlocking their imagination and setting life goals, helping families find creative daily life strategies, or facilitating co-production within organisations to reveal actionable insights, we bring empathy, vision, and real-life experience to every challenge.

Our mission is to inspire and implement solutions that make a real difference.

Karen’s philosophy goes beyond the idea of independence. We all rely on relationships and interdependence to thrive. Her own experience employing personal assistants (PAs) to support her daughter at home and in the community has shown her the importance of nurturing strong, trust-based relationships. Open communication and shared values between her daughter, her PAs, and Karen as their employer are central to a life of fulfilment and inclusion.

Karen’s self-directed care management journey on behalf of her daughter has shaped her professional path. With a talent for building empathetic, meaningful relationships and a strategic vision that allows her to navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments, Karen is dedicated to ensuring that technology enhances, rather than replaces, the human connections that are so vital to a good life.

Karen is deeply committed to ensuring that people of any ability have choice and control over their lives. As a parent of a young adult with a learning disability and no speech, she has personally navigated the complexities of managing personal budgets and direct payments. Through this experience, Karen realised that user-friendly, trustworthy technology could make this process simpler and more accessible for those managing their own care and those organising care for their loved ones.

In 2020, Karen founded inCharge, a care app designed with the person at the heart of it. The app is not just a tool for managing care but ensures that people are central and involved in decisions about their lives as a whole, empowering them to shape their future, not only their care.
